Health & Safety Officer

Location: Huguenot Tunnel and Toll PlazaReports: Operations Manager 

Qualifications and Skills: 

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills: 

• Grade 12 certificate 
• National Diplomas in Safety Management 
• Additional Certificates in Occupational Health and Safety Management (NQF 5)
• Compulsory registration with SACPCMP as a Safety Officer or any higher registration designation.
• Registration with SAIOSH or IOSH will be beneficial.
• 3-5 years experience as a Health and Safety Officer specifically in the construction setting
• Officer specifically in the construction setting.
• Experience with Contractor Management 37 (2) Agreements and Auditing is essential.
• Excellent Computer Literacy Skills: MS Office (especially Outlook, Word & Excel).
• Work independently and in a Team.
• Valid Unendorsed Code 08 driver's license.
• Fit for duty - Occupational Medical certificate.

Responsibilities: 

• Ensure compliance of the project with relevant OHS and Construction Regulations 
• Continuously develop, implement, and improve the H&S plans, programmes, and procedures in the workplace. (Emergency procedures, firefighting, and first aid)
• Conducting incident investigations and unsafe working conditions, identifying possible causes, and recommending and implementing corrective action. Oversee the maintenance of all OHS records. 
• Assist in the preparation of project-specific health and safety documentation for distribution to contractors for inclusion into their tender submissions
• Make sure that personal protective equipment is being used in the workplace according to regulations
